Ideal Climbing Season

Mount Kilimanjaro is found in northern Tanzania, about a five-hour drive south of the equator. The geographic location means that daylight generally remains about equal throughout the year, approximately 12 hours year-round.

Though each season stays relatively the same in temperature, the limiting factor is the weather. Historically the high season for climbing is May through late August, though later the chances of rain increases significantly. There is a brief respite in December and January, and people who chose to climb at this time of the year do enjoy a less crowded experience. Any prices found on our website are quoted for the high season.

Kilimanjaro Climbing Tours operates in the months mentioned above but can make exceptions for more personalized trips as requested. If you or your group is interested in climbing outside of the high seasons shown above, please contact us to discuss and we will do our best to accommodate.
